money and love
Tuesday, August 03, 2010 12:45 AM

have been busy these past week teaching Cheryl, meeting up with dearies & of course, typing the thesis.

not that I have much to complain though, seeing as how I'll probably miss sleeping late & waking up late almost everyday.

another couz of mine got married on sat. she's just a year older than me. *gosh* right. ppl nowadyas are getting hitched younger & younger. I'm not surprised if my friends start announcing their engagement too. this couz of mine married a millionaire (to me that is). seeing as how his parents own so much property & my couz has her own horses & plans to have many dogs in their humongous mansion in m'sia.

and according to my mum, my couz got lucky! my couz-in-law is not erm very goodlooking. but he is rich! thats good enough.

NOT. to me that is. unless a couple is very very much in love, I don't see how having cash compensates for looks. I'm a lookist, so sue me. but seriously, if the girl is not THAT in love with the not so handsome guy, but more in love with his cash, what happens if 10 yrs down the road a handsome AND rich guy comes along? wouldnt she be swayed? then she'll be regretting her hasty decision to choose $ over looks.

hahahha. I'm not saying my couz married for $ that was what darren said . I'm sure she's very much in love with her husband regardless of his looks and ahem, cash.

I don't see how I can ever fall in love what with me being so cynical about everything. and the ironic thing is I'm a hopeless romantic.

so while I'm poking fun at love, I secretly wanna have a taste of it too. I'm weird that way.

fong sis tried to matchmake me with Cheryl's maths tutor. in a really hilarious way. at that time, I just arrived back in sg after my trip to Huairou. as we were pushing my luggage towards her car, she asked if I needed maths tuition. say, stats for my psych class. so that she can get that guy to teach me. like I would say yeah actually I need. hahahahah

she did mention this maths tutor before, yrs back I guess. ahah the elusive mysterious perfect guy she so wanted to recommend. reason? he's rich. "got money can already what! then u can become tai tai" okayyyy. firstly, a tai tai is the last thing I'll ever want. I'm someone who needs to be working/doing something or I'll die of boredom or die of something I did to alleviate my boredom.

even shaz has he must be rich in her criteria for potential bfs. to me, being rich is just a bonus I guess. that'll allow me to go travelling overseas FINALLY. to places like switzerland, italy, venice, france.. & not worry about the fares digging a deep hole in my pocket. sure, its fanciful having a rich bf fetch u in his expensive car, bring u out to extravagant restaurants & eat oysters & shower u with expensive gifts.

but to choose between godiva chocolates & m&ms, I'll rather have m&ms everyday. I'd rather eat ramen than oysters everyday. to sum it up, I'd rather have a bf who's money-wise. someone who might be rich but doesn't show it off. like what they say, if u're great, u don't have to tell the whole world about it. ppl will naturally know of ur greatness. whats the point of ostenstatiously driving big cars & everything? its all about showing ppl that u have $. thats all. doesn't make u a better person than someone less rich or someone equally as rich but chooses not to show it does it.

to each his own is all I can say I guess. if u manage to find someone rich AND money-wise, well congrats! u've found a treasure!

ok back to the elusive maths tutor. I actually happened to finally get to see him the other day after all these time. coincidentally I was supposed to teach Cheryl but she had forgotten to tell me that she had a physical fitness test till 6 so I spent half an hour sitting on the couch observing the maths tutor teaching Deryl from the corner of my eye.

hahahha

his back was facing me so I didn't get a good look of his face. damn! ahahaha but then again, it'll be difficult to observe if he's facing me. and anyways, he was carrying a.. wait for it.. PRADA bag. not just any bag, but a PRADA bag! like seriously, its the first time I see a guy carry a PRADA bag. like whoa. the guys I know carry crumpler & diesel & er backpacks? he's definitely rich.. I'm not sure about money-wise though. hahah.

Have been staying up way past 3am and I scored a way past 430 am last night. Reminiscent of the old world cup days or rather mornings eh. Its not that I want to do so. I just can’t get myself to sleep. And I end up breezing past morning and asking myself why my day is so short when it starts at 12 noon.

Up till now, I only have 3596 words. So I’m left with.. whats 10 000 – 3596? I’m too lazy to count. All I know is, it’s a lot. So there. Thank goodness lit review only comprises of 5000 words. So I’m almost almost almost there.

Usually I tell myself not to crap too much cuz I tend to overshoot the word limit. Now for my final assignment, I have to crap more. How ironic.

To curb my boredom I have sent resumes after resumes to job agencies and companies in hope that they wouldn’t mind having someone who has yet to finish her degree to work with them. Alas I hope too much sometimes. Other than a few useless job interviews, I have heard nothing from them. Sigh.

in desperate need for tummy-ache laughter. after the meetup with shaz last tues where we spent nearly 12 hrs tog from orchard to changi, my tummy never felt the same again. apart from the delightful wings that were filling it, it was aching from all the laughter. man i miss the good old school days where we get to crap all we want in class.

I never thought I would say this but I miss school. already. sobs

and I miss watching the world cup. sobs. I even dreamt that Nadia & I were watching the match between Spain & Netherlands LIVE. hahaha awesome much?

and I miss everyone.
I miss my dearies.. pee, danny, xuan (even tho we just met recently).. lirong, vina, p2 (we haven met tog all 4 of us for ages!).. twin (u're soooo busy nowadays! I miss u being bored online everyday).. huairou team-mates (except a few u-know-whos).. fellow researchers.. alyson, audris, zhenxiong, chad, hui li, jul, shan, ming ze, justin, jun yan. (I miss those good old desperate researching times where we grabbed every innocent passerby to use as a participant)

sigh. I need to stop being so sad. and laugh more.

there. sadness gone. madness resume. ahahaha

who else better than him to cheer me up. ahahah

oh and I love this. HAHAHAHA way to go robpat!

with the high levels of testosterone filling the screens as Edward & Jacob shoot daggers at each other as they struggle to have physical contact with Bella. and Jacob claiming that he's hotter than Edward (which I so agree) and I have to agree with twinnie here when Bella demanded that Jacob kiss her. to put it nicely, she's a two-timer. and you know what they say about two-timers. you'll fall into deep waters sooner or later. to put it not so nicely, she's a slut. HAHA.

so to save ALL the problems, the story should go like this. Jacob, anguished that Bella was in love with another, met up with Edward to scrutinize his rival only to find himself falling for him. and Edward, hearing his thoughts, gets attracted to Jacob as well. brokeback mountain much? hahahahah poor Bella. she wouldnt know what hit her

anyway am currently watching the encore of the Uruguay vs Netherlands match while waiting for Germany to play against Spain. I can't believe I didn't watch it last night, or rather this morning. I saw the date as 7/7/10 so I presumed it was on wed night. how was I supposed to know it meant wed 230 am aka tues after midnight. ish.

thank god for encores.

it could have spared me several excruciating moments of self-blame if I had known they were showing encores. bleah

spent the last week catching up with close ones. am glad to be able to see everyone again. caught up with danny, xuan, pee at sakae where we chatted noisily and updated each other with the latest gossip. turns out danny got attached! well, his ring on his fourth finger was rather hard not to notice. haha and the girl is exactly the one we expected after we spied on his phone. HEHE. am so happy for him! alas, xuan's one failed. he seems relieved though so I guess its a good thing. and the longest lasting relationship award goes to... pee! and we have yet to assess the bf. tsk.

caught up with the family members at hao's wedding banquet last sunday. and special thanks to my little source of entertainment, Sean, my hyperactive cheeky cousin who cant seem to stop running around nor stop tickling me.

caught up with twinnie to watch eclipse at tamp. rembr our date for future ramen places! *growl* even my tummy's growling already haha. had fun squeezing thru the hokkaido fair, slurping our 5 bucks ice cream, & dabaoing curry bread home to eat

yawn.. am so tired already. wonder how i'm going to wake up early for yoga tmr. sigh.

Chelsie and tics eew
Thursday, July 01, 2010 4:15 PM

the past few days have been pretty hectic. what with finding tics on Chelsie's body, leading to more traumatic mornings when I realized I have been spending my dreams with unknown tics
*dramatic pause*

eeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeewwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww

so as you probably expect, the next few days were dedicated to scrubbing. both the house and Chelsie. we washed all the pillows. toys. beds. floors. whatever thats washable. including Chelsie. we sent him to the groomers for a wash. and a cut so that they can see the tics more clearly and pluck them off.

man those are some undrownable sticky frigging tics.

now he's better already, though lack of a lot of fur. and now whenever I spot a tic-lookalike, I attack it with a vengeance. as long as they have a body and insect like, they DIE.

I wonder how Buddhists survive during a tic infestation. don't kill the tics! but they'll bite. your body or theirs? you decide. maybe they do kill tics. when there's no choice. or maybe they pray after killing. like how Avatar thanks the animals for providing the food after killing them. meaningful but quite useless since the animals cant even hear them anymore right. maybe their spirits will. *giggle*

why have I diverted so much? back to the topic. so now that Chelsie is furless, we bought him a mini dress to keep him warm. well technically, its a very long shirt. with the word "KING" on it to differentiate between boys & girls. the girls one had a "QUEEN" on it.

cute eh! my couz's maid went gaga over him after seeing how handsome he was. hehehehehe

the little getaway to kl
Tuesday, June 22, 2010 1:01 PM

ALOHA EARTHLINGS.

AM BACK from my little getaway! it was heaps of fun I wish we could have stayed longerrrr. sigh oh wells. its okay, we shall return with a vengeance!

It took us abt 6 hrs to travel up to KL including all the toilet breaks and lunch breaks.. my mum insisted on visiting the washroom EVERY SINGLE TIME we stopped and it was such a smelly affair it could have left me traumatized if not for the china experience I had.. so China, I thank thee deep deep.

the journey itself was rather pleasant though seeing as how we had massage chairs that was retractable so that we ended up in a sleeping position watching Avatar.. G-force.. and some japanese dog show that was so sad I watched halfway and went to sleep. and there were games too. about 12 different ones to choose from. so entertainment wise, there was plenty to do.

so day 1 adventure begins.. we sat down, poured over the map, and finally decided to head to KLCC for some exploration. we had fun wandering around looking for the monorail.. walking around looking for the significant twin towers & finally managed to find it. and we passed by a chocolate boutique. if not for the fact that we were not allowed to take pictures, I would have flooded my camera with pictures of snowmen, bananas, dragons, penguins, all made of chocolate! and... they had free samples of chocolate everywhere. chocolate with almonds.. tiramisu.. durian.. sesame.. so Cheryl & I went around tasting everything before deciding that tiramisu won hands down. teehee

after reaching KLCC, our first stop was.. A&W! whee! hahha absolutely heart the root beer float there.. and of course shopping was next.. loads of pretty things to buy.. watches.. clothes.. accessories.. souvenirs.. the next stop was Sungei Wang, where we bought MORE accessories. and pretty flip flops. and it was there at the open pub that I saw the match between Germany & Serbia. and the score was 0-1! *gasp*

I DON'T UNDERSTAND IT. HOW CAN GERMANY BE SO LOUSY?! THEY ARE LIKE ONE OF THE BEST INTERNATIONAL TEAMS. my jaw dropped. and I hastily called Dad to check. apparently yes, they lost. to serbia. oh my dear dear dear dear friend.

after that, we made our way back to the hotel to rest our aching legs and enjoy a hot soothing bath.. afterwhich Cheryl & I had fun lying on pillows watching the terminator & finding nemo.

the next morning, we woke up all rested and headed down to chinatown for some dimsum and shopping. pictures are all on facebook, so kindly refer to them if you're curious. kinda lazy to post them here hehe it wasn't that great. wasn't bad either. so we're in middle ground. wahaa. and ooh there were like so many hunky ang mohs around. alas, they were accompanied by their long legged ang moh gfs.

we managed to get loads of cheap deals in chinatown but apparently there were more stuff to see at night. and we found out that we overspent. surprise surprise. wahaha. so we had to go search for money changers with good rates and changed more $$. I think its a conspiracy to trick tourists to spend more $. we think that the currency is good so we fork out money easily. and lo and behold, the $'s gone! so fast! it left me gobsmacked.

after a dehydrating walk, we headed to pavillion for some cool air-con. while waiting for the aunties to shop, I sat down at the toy corner and massaged my aching legs & spent the time playing with this uber cute arab looking kid. SO CUTE. but doesnt speak a word of english. damn. not that i'm into him tho. i'm no paedophile.

and lunch was a hearty affair at the food republic. awesome food again! too bad the vietnamese stall that was there last yr was no longer there. i miss the seafood salad already. sighs. after that, there was MORE shopping and we headed to berjaya times square which was conveniently situated right beside the hotel. hehs. because we barely just had lunch, we had baskin robbins for dinner! haha

naturally my stomach growled after we prowled thru the shopping mall. it resulted in us buying back kfc & instant noodles back to the hotel while we watched toy story 1, shrek 1, and ratatouille. hahaha kiddy tv time. the chicken there is bigger than the burger! seriously. sg's kfc pales in comparison man.. and of course, toenail beautifying session with Cheryl, fong sis & mum as we painted them a shiny pink.

was contemplating watching the 230 match between algeria and england but my eyes were making a half-hearted attempt to stay open. so, beddy time!

the next morning was rushed as we had to check out at 12. so after breakfast at the hotel, we headed back up & enjoyed a longgg chat till 12 before Cheryl went off with fong sis for ther amusement park treat. mumsie, aunty yvonne, & me went shopping. hehehe. but there were just too many floors to shop. we couldn't even finish the whole building in 2 hrs before we had to rush to buy donuts back to sg before rushing back to the hotel lobby to get our luggage.

and we reached sg at.. guess? 1am. yes. 1am. xiao right. all thanks to the bus problems lah.. delays.. custom jam.. there were like hundreds of singaporeans at the customs.. all returning from their weekend getaway. we so should have stayed another day and come back on a monday. but well, with the entertainment on the bus, who's complaining? haha. and at 1am in sg, fong sis & family with mum & me went to lavender for our supper. haha poor daddie had to stay up till 2 before we returned. but with presents for him! whee!

world cup madness
Tuesday, June 15, 2010 10:15 PM

am watching the match between Portugal and Ivory Coast now as I type with my eyes half closed.. the world cup is really seriously draining all my energy away with its 230 matches daily..

too afraid to sleep in case I smash the alarm & miss the match, I have hardly been fully asleep between 12+ to 230 & end up staying wide awake waiting for the match to start. and it HAS to start at 230 right. gawd

anyway, GERMANY WON! 4-0 against Australia.. superbly awesome!! quoting from my Dad "Germany was on a totally higher level than Australia". hahah wheet wheeet! Miroslav Klosé was amazing as usual. To date, he has scored in ELEVEN world cup goals. ELEVEN. can you believe it? I'm still gobsmacked. ♥♥♥ and as much as I like Italy to win, Paraguay proved to be a challenging competitor. it was nearly impossible to get the ball pass them. was almost like the entire team went after the ball all the time.

and there's Brazil vs North Korea later.. Gonna predict North Korea to be flattened haha. Brazillians are well knowned to be world cup domineering.

AND... I'm going to miss a match between Germany & Serbia while I'm away! yyyyyyyikes. I'm contemplating staying cooped up in the hotel room to watch it. sigh HOW.

on a side note, was trudging my way out of school today after a meetup with Pat to discuss the insignificant results. more like him trying to cheer me up than me doing any work actually ha. he's so nice I'm so damn glad I got him as a sup. and I saw Chad. who went all the way to school to pay school fees.

yes you read right.
to pay $$.
I wouldn't do that unless u dragged me all the wayy.

saw Zhenxiong too and spent the next 10 minutes standing in the middle of the pathway comparing our miserable lives haha. and the reason why he went to school? to get back his assignment cuz his lecturer refused to reveal their scores online.

...
that sucks.

hehehe.

and this is hilarious.

I believe I can touch the skies... *spread my wings and fly awayyyy*

hehehhehe

world cup 2010
Saturday, June 12, 2010 4:16 PM

u jump, I dive.
the world cup fever is on and raging.

yesterday's opening match with south Africa playing host was a disappointment when neither south Africa nor Mexico scored in the first half. I personally felt that Mexico should have scored in a another goal. they had so much more possession of the ball. AND.. the goal from south Africa was such a fluke. there were NIL defenders at the goalpost when Tshabalala scored.

nice name eh? esp the last part of the name. it has a nice ringing tune to it.

HAHAHAH.

was contemplating walking to the cc (which is a good 3.5 stops away) last night at 2am to catch the 230am match between France and Uruguay. laziness and fatigue got the better of me and I ended up snoozing in bed. thank goodness I didnt though. with a score of 0-0 it would be such a waste of energy walking 3.5 bus stops.

hopefully will be able to catch the upcoming 3 matches of Korea vs Greece, Argentina vs Nigeria & England vs Usa at HOME tonight. walking around at 2 in the morning doesnt seem like quite a good idea. but well, we'll see. desperate times call for desperate measures after all.

and despite the world cup fever, there's still essays to write, participation logs to submit, holiday to Kl to plan ( what to bring! ), harry potter addiction to quench, and of course, that bugger: thesis to write.

but for now, i'm still in the grieving mood over dumbledore's death.

I shall retreat to my sombre bed to continue weeping. gd day y'all.
