recently there were two rather disturbing events that shook the world.. the catatrophic natural disasters that struck once again. first was the myanmar cyclone that left thousands homeless, the country almost destroyed. and the second was the earthquake in china. children suddenly became orphans overnight.. parents lost their children.. loved ones grieving over their loved ones left dead admist the debris. news after news flash the insensitive photographs of people crying their hearts out, lying beside still, immobile bodies. life that was still as per normal hours ago suddenly changed. and people were thrown into darkness in a blink. is this fair? why do we have to go through these? and its not like we can do anything to prevent it. it just happens. suddenly through the gates of heaven and hell, people are streaming in. and did they die for a reason? no. they died because of something natural. these people did not choose be born in their countries.. they did not choose to live their lives in these countries. one day you're just living your ife. and the next day, u're poofed. gone. nada. i just don't get it. and same goes for those in america who suffered from hurricane katrina. why do these natural disasters have to come about. scientists will answer my question in a flash. something about the earth moving and blahblahblah. but seriously. if there's a fire, pple can call the fire brigade and save as many pple out as possible. if there's a so called man made disaster, help is on the way almost immediately. can the same be said for natural disasters? no. when there's a flood/hurricane/tsunami/earthquake or wadeva, people either die/ are homeless / lose their loved ones. there's no way to help them immediately. if i go by my saying that 'if its time for you to go, you would have to go', then this is bloody ridiculous. so in these 2 countries at the moment, thousands of people's time was up? suddenly God decided that their time on earth was too long? its at times like this that we count our blessings that we were born in singapore huh. a country thats sheltered from almost all natural disasters. maybe everyone else should migrate over to singapore. then everyone would be safe from natural disasters. haha right. what a naive way of thinking. if that happens then singapore would be too overcrowded. and i'm sure somehow, there will be a new way of death. death by overcrowding/ suffocation from not enough oxygen in the atmosphere. sigh. death seems to be everywhere these days. |
