trip to bangkok 22-25th dec!!
Wednesday, December 26, 2007 4:27 PM

i'm back from bangkok!! just flew back yesterday night. supposedly flight was scheduled to arrive in sg at 2315... but there was some engine problem when the pilot tried to take off. and thus we were all stuck in the plane for an extra hour.. bugger. initialy glad that i had 'mr darcy and me' by alexandra potter to accompany me, i was downright bored after finishing the story book in 2hrs.. so the last hr was spent stoning out the window. bllearghhh.
and to top that off, when we landed, it was already 1215am. and we had to queue up to get thru immigration. which took us abt half an hr standing there.. and then mum had to get beer and wine from dfs for her friend, and we had to queue for that too. so by the time we went to get our luggage, it was nearing 1am. and then, ha. that was not the end of our troubles. there was not enough trolleys to accomdate the sudden influx of passengers. as our flight was delayed, it kinda crashed with other flights landing at that time too, so there was like this huge mass of ppl waiting to get out of the airport. and when finally we have gotten our trolleys, we headed out to get a cab back home. only to be faced with the taxi queue. omg. it was practicaly winding itself all the way from the taxi door entrance to the arrival hall. i've had enough of queuing okay. first, the stupid immigration that took so long. then the dfs shop where ppl just kept adding items into their already full basket of beer. then the luggage and trolley wait. and now this taxi queue. arrrgh. but there wasnt much of a choice. no bus, no train. no car. taxi lor. and so we queued. by the time we reached home, it was already like 2am? wah liew

okay enough of that unpleasant stuff, lets go through the pleasant stuff all right. we spent 4 days in bangkok. arriving at 12 noon in bangkok meant that we had the afternoon off to shop at central before meeting fong sis and others for dinner there at night. and so mum and i went over to big C and central. Central was the largest shopping centre of bangkok. and it was situated just opposite our hotel. ahhhaha such convenience.

mum & me at the hotel lobby..

and thats the christmas house at central... it looked like some gingerbread house. haha

and so we did some exploration of the shopping centres around our hotel, namely, big C and central.. there was siam centre, siam paragon and mbk too but they were abt a 10mins walk from central.. haha. basically, near us too lah.

thats the palace where we stayed.. it looks bigger than it seems, really. wahahahha

but seeing as how we were super tired as we took the 0810 flight to bangkok, we went back to the hotel to rest first and freshen up before 7 to meet fong sis, fann sis, sunny bro, deryl, stanley, shawna, cheryl and samuel at mbk for dinner.

they brought us to fuji. this japanese restaurant thats situated at mbk, siam centre, siam paragon respectively.. haha and gosh. the food is GOOD. and i mean, fantastically, absolutely, delicious ok! the salmon mentai, the crab meat, ramen, salmon fried rice, lemon juice.. basicially everything, was heavenly.. compare it to sg's japanese food and sg pales in comparison. *rolls eyes* i feel like migrating to bangkok. i could eat that everyday man.. hahaha.

after dinner, we had some shopping tog.. they were leaving bangkok for sg the next day so we had better shop all we could tog first. haha.

shawna and cheryl were super excited on seeing me in the same country as them on holiday for the 3rd time now.. haha

2 pinkies and a brownie. wahaha

thats a 'promote energy saving' christmas tree. COOL huh. its like so innovativE!!! as if sg could come up with something like that! wanna have a closer look of whats it made of?

there! every single 'leave' is made of a water dispenser that covers a 'fake lighted candle'. cool doesnt do justice to it man.. its simply amazing.

and then we reached siam paragon where we settled down for a drink at macs before walking around.. and spotted the chocolate world. omg. that is so incredible don't u think? its made of chocolate! the entire thing! okay except the bear that is.. haha.

shawna and i were so tempted to eat it..

thats the pretty sight outside the atrium of central world.. fantasic and fabulous huh..

and that was abt the first day.. after bidding goodbye to the rest, mum and me headed back to the hotel and prepared for our shopping nxt day at chatuchak! haha the famous weekend market at mo chit!

and we went there in the morning.. hoping that it wont be so crowded in the morning.. but alas, it was just as crowded. and HOT. and humid. and by the time afternoon came, everyone was STICKY. brushing past ppl was DISGUSTING. hahahaha. lucky they sold fans there.. though the shopping was good as we managed to get a lot of stuffs, shorts, souvenirs, slippers, bags, earrings, belts, etc etc, it was easy to get dehydrated in that sort of conditions.. i was still thirsty after getting a can of coke there, so mum and i went over to the new shopping mall, jj mall that was just behind chatuchak. and we came across black canyon coffee and i finished 2 cups of iced lemon tea there. haha. but the main focus is the coffee. it is WONDERFUL. haha. sorry i ran out of adjectives. its so super delicious lah. the coffee taste is so strong. so fragrant. so tasty. and it came in a strange combination.

it came with a small cup of chinese jasmine tea and biscuits.. interesting huh.. and coffee wise, i ordered iced mocha.. and the coffee was good! haha. need i emphasize? its the best of the best! beats sg's coffee flat down! haha

anyway, that night, mum & me went to eat fuji again! haha. the porridge there is superb too! more like rice in salmon soup! and we went to explore siam and admire the walk way! haha

as for the 3rd day, we went to bobae tower to shop. yes shop again.. haha. and managed to get away with quite a few cheap but nice clothes.. and then we went over to siam discovery centre to get more souvenirs and then over to mbk. oh the jeans there are like super cheap and nice! from 790 baht to 700 baht for 1, and then 650 baht for the other. which is abt 30 to 35 sg dollars. just where can you find nice cheap jeans in sg for that price? huhhuhuhuh. hahaha. and so, basically, 3rd day was spent on shopping for lots of souvenirs that we didnt manage to find for friends..

and on the last day, we just walked around big C and central once again as we had to check out at 4pm that day.. most of the time was spent lazing around in the hotel.. haha. having walked around too much the past few days already, our legs were aching.. 1st day, we returned to the hotel past midnight sg time, sleepy and tired.. 2nd day, we spent the entire day at chatuchak. exhausted at the end of the day.. 3rd day, went shopping at bobae, siam centre, paragon, discovery centre and mbk. tired and aching legs at the end of the day. last day, best. everything bought. haha just leisure shopping and walking around.. and then it was time to leave for the airport.

us heading to the gates to check in.. bye bangkok!!

and as mentioned above, there was a delay due to engine problem.. yawnz.. so we spent the time taking photos.. but we looked sleepy.. haha

and to end it off, thai airways presented us with our presents. with a MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!
